AP Music Theory -  This course is designed for students who wish to major or minor in music at the college level or simply for current music students who wish to learn more advanced music theory.  Students will acquire necessary skills to prepare them for college music entrance/placement examinations and/or of the College Board AP Music Theory Exam.  Students will master concepts and skills in the areas of scales, keys, chords, harmony, voice leading, part writing, transposition, figured bass realization, sight singing, melodic dictation, harmonic dictation, form, texture and music vocabulary.  Course activities will include listening, dictating, singing, part writing, analyzing, and composing.

Prior experience in music reading is strongly suggested. 

This site is designed for students enrolled in the Oak Park and River Forest High School AP Music Theory course.
