Open Airways for Schools is an asthma management
program for children aged 8 – 11 who have been diagnosed with asthma. In six
lessons, the program teaches children that it is okay to have asthma, warning
signs, and how to prevent and control their asthma. Student facilitators
trained through the American Lung Association lead the lessons. Open Airways
has also partnered up with Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NWCH) to pilot a
program that trains pharmacy students on how to discuss asthma medications and
symptoms with families at a NWCH pediatric office.
