Unit 1 - c. 1450-1648 Renaissance, Reformation, and Dynastic Conflict

This unit first focuses on the social, political, and intellectual structure of late medieval Europe.  The renewed interest in classical learning alters this world view and sparks changes in politics, economics, and art.  Similar changes occur in the religious outlook of Europeans in a period known as the Reformation.  The monopoly on faith held by the Catholic Church is broken causing shock-waves throughout the continent.  This unit culminates with a look at the age of religious wars and its repercussions.  What comes next?  Click on Unit 2: Europe in Transition for more information.

Unit Calendars, Lectures, and Major Assignments will be added below as we cover them in class.
