Mock Create Task with earsketch
For the Mock Create task, you will be creating your own original composition through EarSketch and answering the Create prompts. Follow the steps below to walk you through how EarSketch works and to ensure that you are including all the requirements for this project.
- Before we begin this in class, you must go through the short tutorials in EarSketch to familiarize yourself with the platform and what you will be doing. Complete this Google Form (once you click on the Book on the lefthand side) as you work through the information and turn in by Feb 27 at 8PM (A-Day) and Feb 28 at 8 PM (B-Day)
For the practice Create task, you will be creating your own original composition through EarSketch and answering the Create prompts. Follow the steps below to walk you through how EarSketch works and to ensure that you are including all the requirements for this project.
- Before we begin this in class, you must go through the short tutorials in EarSketch to familiarize yourself with the platform and what you will be doing. Complete this Google Form as you work through the information and turn in before next class period (2/27 or 2/28).
- In class, begin working on your original compositions. Keep the following requirements in mind:
- Song must be at least 16 measures long
- Defines at least three variables, and uses those variables as function parameters
- Utilizes at least one effect – setEffect()- to alter a track or a part of a track (see Unit 1 Chapter 4)
- Utilizes at least one loop (see Unit 2 Chapter 12)
- Utilize either randomness (Unit 2 Chapter 20) or user input (Unit 2 Chapter 17) to customize your song
- You must compose your piece in one of the following musical forms: rondo (ABAC), ballad (AABA), ABAB, or another form that you find and can explain. (Unit 2 Chapter 9 explains ABA form)

- After your song is completed, you will download your mp3 file, answer the Create task questions, and submit BOTH FILES to the Google Classroom.
