Subj: UPCOMING EVENTS
As the end of the school year approaches, we would like to provide you with information regarding NJROTC activities and the dates associated with our trips. Our activities are optional and not required but most cadets enjoy them. We have made every effort to keep costs to a minimum and will use fund raising money to the extent possible. This means that cadets have little or no cost to participate. Some trips are designed for specific naval science levels as indicated.
16 May 2014 at 6:40PM -AJHS NJROTC night at Diamondbacks game. Our color guard will present the colors at Chase Field during the Dbacks and Dodgers game. The Diamondbacks have provided us with a limited number of (50) deeply discounted game tickets for cadets and parents in the ALL YOU CAN EAT section. Our cost is $38.00 per ticket and we will sell them at our cost not face value.
San Diego Trip. 27-30 May 2014 . Limited to 40 cadets with preference to cadets just completing naval science 1.Total cost (transportation, food and lodging) is $30.00 per cadet. We will stay in military barracks and eat at military dining facilities on the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. Plans include military vehicle (driving simulator), the weapons simulator experience, LAV tour, and a beach day.
Fort Huachuca Basic Leadership training. 2 June- 6June 2014. Limited to 20 cadets with preference to those just completing naval science 1. Total cost is $10.00 . We will camp out on the army post. Two meals a day will be provided by the army dining facility and MREs will be eaten at lunch. This is a high adventure type camp with rappelling (80 foot tower), the obstacle course, a Leadership Reaction Course, water survival training, land navigation, and basic martial arts instruction. Moderate physical exercise is required. This is a dusty environment and cadets with breathing issues or requiring medication should check with medical personnel before attending.
Camp Navajo National Guard Base -Navy Leadership Academy, 23 June-28 June 2014. Limited to 7 cadets NS-2 or NS-3.The top 2 percent of cadets in the United States are selected for this academy. The unit pays all costs. Cadets MUST pass the Physical Fitness Test, have at least a 2.5 GPA (inclusive), and have no asthma conditions or Heart conditions. This academy is extremely PHYSICALLY, ACADEMICALLY, and MENTALLY challenging. It is probably the most difficult experience that the cadets selected have ever faced. If they are not prepared, they will not make it.
