Mission, Goals, and Technology Competencies

T
echnology for the elementary school student has grown dramatically.  Students need to be familiar with a variety of technological tools including computers, computer applications, websites, mobile devices, and any new implements that have not yet invented. 
Mission:  The mission of the Elementary Technology Curriculum Committee of the Archdiocese of 
Philadelphia is to empower teachers and students to use technology to become digital citizens, knowledge constructors, creative communicators, computational thinkers, innovative designers, and global collaborators.

Goal:  The goal of the Elementary Technology Curriculum Committee of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is to provide, promulgate, and support a robust curriculum that promotes an understanding of technology, an acquisition of technology skills, and an integration of technology across and within all subject areas.

The Elementary Technology Curriculum Committee Mission and Goal emanate from the International Society for Technology in Education Standards.  These ISTE Standards for Students have been refreshed as of June 27, 2016.   The new ISTE Standards list includes the following roles for students:
