About me

Anya E. Vostinar (Johnson)

I am an Assistant Professor at Grinnell College since 2017 in Computer Science.

I graduated in August 2017 from Michigan State University with a PhD in Computer Science and Evolutionary Biology. I worked in the Devolab for Charles Ofria, studying the evolution of cooperation in artificial life. I worked as a summer research student for Amy Csizmar-Dalal in 2010 and Sherri Goings in 2011 as a Clare Boothe Luce scholarship recipient. I also taught CSE 232 at MSU for the summer 2016 semester and found I love teaching computer science.

I enjoy writing code for many different projects and contributing to large open-source projects and examples can be found on my Github.

Outside of school and work I volunteer in workshops teaching evolution to grade schoolers and pursue science outreach in general. I also love science fiction and fantasy fiction and work to increase the diversity in the genre.
