THE GANAPATI FESTIVAL :
(ITS DISHEARTENING:THE CELEBRATIONS ARE NO LONGER WHAT THEY USED TO BE)
There Was A Time When The Entire Colony Used To Get Charged Up During The Ganesh Festival. Sarvajanik Ganesh Idols Used To Be Set Up In A No. Of Buildings ( NALANDA, GODAVARI, SARNATH, VINDHYA ETC.) By The Various Ganesh Mandals Or Associations Of The Buildings. There Used To Be Various Competitions & Activities For Children. During Those Days, There Was No Cable TV, But Only One Channel Of Doordarshan. So People (Especially Children) Used To Go Crazy For Watching Hindi Films Screened On Large Screens Set Up On Various Grounds & In The OLD COMMUNITY CENTRE . There Used To Be A Choice Of Films To Watch Or Rather A Competition Between The GODAVARI Building Ganesh Mandal & The OLD COMMUNITY CENTRE Mandal. There Used To Be Thorough Disappointment If It Rained. At Times Children Used To Wait For Hours Together Desperately Hoping For The Rain To Stop, So That The Movie Could Be Screened ! It Was Real Fun, Not Only Because Of The Movies, But Just To Be With So Many Friends & Spend Some Wonderful Moments Together.
Things Have Changed Since Then. At Present, The Sarvajanik Ganesh Pooja Is Done Only At Four Places. NALANDA, OLD COMMUNITY CENTRE, GODAVARI & NEW MANDALA. No Films Are Screened. Though The Makhar Decorations Are Very Beautiful, Somehow, Sometimes You Can Sense During The Celebrations, That May Be Due To The Lack Of Active Participation On A Large Scale Or Maybe Due To Some Other Reasons, The Enthusiasm Is Low. Maybe People Are Now Busy Watching Cable, Daily Soaps, Net Etc. Or Maybe Doing On Line Pooja !
NAVARATRI FESTIVAL : Garbha Is Organized On The NALANDA Ground During Navaratri.
“PARIVARTAN SANSAR KA NIYAM HAIN”. So This Story Of Changes Will Continue With Time…..
Keep Watching This Site.
