Renée's Entrée 1 - Do you think this is big??
Renée's Entrée 1 - Do you think this is big??
House smoked organic maple glazed salmon, buttermilk biscuits, cream cheese $15 So I ordered 2 items, not because I'm a pig (I know I can eat), but because I knew this would not be a big "entree." Tell me how full this item will leave you? The waiter gave me the funny eye when I ordered this and the waffles, which was really not that big either. I mean, it's only the size of a large belgium waffle and the fruit compote pretty much semi-digested most of it too. Taste wise, it was like gravlox, but really overdosed with maple syrup. For Clement's B-day, I took him out to a belated B-day brunch at Thuet. He already went there with his family for dinner the week before (and ironically was served by the same ill mannered waiter - see below). Food was decent, not worth the price for my entrees, especially given that it's brunch, and our waiter, paltry snooty service (couldn't even flag down the guy). I think our 4 orders plus drinks should have signified that we were willing to dine customers, not there just to have water and free bread basket which we were denied, even after asking (seeing all the other non-Asian tables getting one), and when told that it only comes with savoury entrees (uh, what was Clement's?) that we would have to buy our own LOAF from the bakery. When does a bread basket constitute one having to go to the adjoining bakery and buy their own loaves? I was tempted to ask Mr. Snoot if we would be charged a bread cutting fee. The nerve! I was also going to write a letter of complaint to the restaurant about out server (as I know the restaurant was still in the process of working out kinks), and the more I thought about it, the more irked I became. Eventually I got a life and moved on.

This was obviously shot last winter... I just got a bigger hard drive and am going through some older stuff. I wonder if my mom's added anything else since? I think this year they've just bought new equipment to be more efficient at making all this stuff. Missing from the picture: Taffy, Taffy Cones, different glass bottles, different shapes and packaging of maple sugar... possibly other stuff I can't think of now. Oh! Like our Maple Candy Floss! We didn't even have the machine for that yet when I took this picture I don't think. And this would be why our dogs names are Maple and Taffy =)
