Rock'n'Roll Dominion (Modern Age music)
Rock'n'Roll Dominion (Modern Age music)
Rock'n'roll has truly existed since the battle of New Orleans only not as a man carrying a guitar and jamming out on the table. It started out with bards who used what was called lutes to play songs that were danceable. These early rockstars sung about their lives and about life in the events of history. It wasn't till a century and a half later that Elvis first began a jam session with his follow rock lovers, mostly black people played rock'n'roll down in New Orleans. Elvis' actions even on TV brought forth the dominion of the rock'n'roll dynasty! Then came the beatles who started out pop rock but quickly started Psychedelic rock, the only true pop rockers were the beach boys. Later on, Deep Purple founded hard rock through an industrial accident of their guitarist. The first true name in classic rock was the rolling stones who were the founders of slow soft melodies, paced quick tunes and easy going vocals with memorably written songs. This style became so for rockabilly, pop rock, psychedelic rock, hard rock, indie rock, alternative rock, new wave, art rock, glam rock and new age rock. Jimmy Morrison is better known as the god of rock'n'roll whereas John Lennon is the godfather of classic rock. Jimmy Hendrix without any doubt is the psychedelic godfather, thus psychedelic rock passed on to Bob Marley. Art rock was only a contemporary rock genre as is arena rock and progressive rock. The days of classic rock ended shortly after AC/DC got big but not because of them, only because of Punk rock. Punk rock goes a ways back in the underground to the year 1967 when Iggy Pop and the Stooges tried an Obnoxious, angry and irreverant approach in rock music creating punk rock. Before them was proto-punk which started as early as 1965 with the New York Dolls and The Who who crossed Psychobilly with acid rock that started in early 1965. Punk rock had a long developement in the underground having a handful of fans in special locations of the UK during the early 70's, before then punk rock was mostly played in the early CBGB which was established in the late 50's. Finally the Sex Pistols drove punk rock in a new direction by making the music loud, fast and aggressive establishing the fundamental sounds of rockaholia. Alternative rock was developed in practically the opening of the 70's crossing classic rock with modern rock. Modern rock bands believed that rock'n'roll was meant to be quicker paced, exciting and more personal. Pretty much everything from punk to goth to metal to industrial and onward is considered modern rock. Iggy Pop went on to be the punk godfather. Gothic music started in developement influence through bands such as The Damned, The Killing Joke (also the first Industrial rock band) and The Misfits. The first of course is Bauhaus who's lead singer and godfather of goth Peter Murphy gave definition to gothic music being depressing, halloween-like sounds, church music and creepy lyrics. Industrial rock started in the mid 70's due to punk rockers who had taken a liking for disco but also for steel and machinery. Heavy Metal roots back to the mid 70's when Black Sabbath began the first major move away from Hard rock after Alice Cooper brought Hard rock to the radio and created heavy metal through his asylum styled albums. The Misfits were heavily influental as was Motorhead and Iron Maiden in changing the sounds of heavy metal from the slow dronish sounds of blues rock and hard rock to the speed demon sounds inspired by punk rock. Metallica set in stone what heavy metal should sound like, fast, crazy and brutal (sadly enough they were the last true heavy metal band). Grunge started in the mid 80's as Soundgarden a sludge metal act experimented with country music mentality, heavy metal atmosphere, psychedelic sound and punk rock energy. the saddest thing about all rockaholia is that along came sell-outs who brought the genre's to the spotlight which they did not want for fear of hipsters. Rebel rock, the final product of rockaholia spawned from heavy metal started in '89 when underground metal acts tired of the machismo and rage in heavy metal, they wanted something they could enjoy with their girlfriends as well as family and friends. Rebel rock crosses heavy metal and southern rock being the performers were from both worlds and were both underground. Rebel rock now poses the final rebellion against the current state of society and always against the mainstream. The final modern rock act ever to be heard was Marilyn Manson, this song 'rock is dead' was signaling the end of modern rock. Green Day who was formerly modern rock was the first band to turn Jam rock, other jam rockers include Korn. Jam rock involves genres such as emo, nu-metal, straight-edge, doom rock, teen rock, arena rock, hollywood rock, funk rock, electro rock and symphonic rock. By the new millennium, shock rock, black metal and death metal came forward as contemporary genres. Avril Lavigne, Kelly Osbourne and Ville Valo led the three pre
