Human Rights Watch World Report 2008
Human Rights Watch World Report 2008
Human Rights Watch is increasingly recognized as the world’s leader in building a stronger awareness for human rights. Their annual World Report is the most probing review of human rights developments available anywhere.
Written in straightforward, non-technical language, Human Rights Watch World Report prioritizes events in the most affected countries during the previous year. The backbone of the report consists of a series of concise overviews of the most pressing human rights issues in countries from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, with particular focus on the role—positive or negative—played in each country by key domestic and international figures.
Highly anticipated and widely publicized by the U.S. and international press every year, the World Report is an invaluable resource for journalists, diplomats, and all citizens of the world.

for the love of polaroid
for the love of polaroid
I had hopes, I'm not going to say I didn't. When I offered Mohini a couple of my Polaroid cameras I was not using and a package of expired promo 600 film, I was just hoping at least she would give Polaroid a try, put that experience in her pocket, add it to her done checklist of things. What has happened is quite wonderful. She has fallen head over heels for instant film and she is paying it forward by doing the same for others, bringing friends to the Polaroid fold. It warms the cockles of my heart to see this shot. It was taken while picnicking under the sakura trees (i had a bento box from Red Fin at the Hotel Max) at the Quad. It was a perfect Seattle day. Sunny, blue sky, no clouds, dry, cool. The Quad was packed with happy people enjoying the pink blossoms everywhere. I was supposed to be there for lunch and a few photos and ended up spending the whole afternoon there, sitting on one of the benches, watching students on the slackline, families and friends enjoying the beautiful day. I even got a little color on my face. Later on, our friend Tea joined us. This is Mohini with her SX-70 and the ATZ film she had purchased at Glazer's and that I picked up for her. Needless to say, she was over the moon. And so was I. Fujichrome Velvia 50 Hasselblad 500 C/M Carl Zeiss Sonnar 150mm f4
I'm loading a few G20 pics - the G20 started today - in particular the USA president flew in with an entourage of 500 people - which possibly exceeds the personal best of J-Lo... the media hyenas were out in force in the hope of filming someone throwing a brick or being hit by a cop, in their lust for ratings...note the licence plate of the van here... this is 8.30am but hey I got a paid day off from work, so went into a bar at lunchtime and watched the news and had three beers, and went window shopping for plasma TV's... I have a low opinion of activists/anarchists I have to say - an excuse for an opportunity to do criminal damage - of course in this weak socialist country the cops are not allowed to do any serious damage to them as it will infringe their precious Human Rights - bear in mind that these people will go on an e.g. Animal Rights march (ie against wearing fur or testing anti-cancer drugs on animals) one week, and then tie cord across the street to hurt police horses the next week - this is the kind of people we are dealing with. my opinion against the media and anarchists is pretty evenly matched I have to say.
