another lacie down.
p.o.s lacie drive started to fail and lost some important files. actually they just disappeared out of the folders. how nice of the drive to let me know what was missing my keeping a bunch of empty folders. a disk utility repaired the situation, but not before my purchase below. but i still don' t know if i trust it. might just throw it out the window. literally. and to think that lacie was like the mothership of my file collection. EVERYTHING went through that p.o.s. prior to being distributed to secondary drives. luckily i had files on my sis's back up that was completely off the system. so now i ain't f*cking around nooo more. just ordered 2 X 750GB seagates (perp. recording, highest capicity on the market, and a 5yr warranty), a raid controller (best believe that i'm going to be mirroring), and a internal mounting bracket for the G5. maybe a little excessive, but even pictured above is about a terabyte of info split among 4 drives. and after the new quad core chips release, these drives will slip right into the new mac pro tower.
20080308 Repartition Hard Drive (a)
I couldn't sleep Sat. A.M., so I got up early and decided to repartition my C: drive to give it more space. What a mistake that turned out to be. All seemed to be going well until the partitioning software wanted to reboot the PC. When it rebooted, it just gave me the brand name logo and nothing else. The hard drive wasn't being accessed nor would it boot from my CD or DVD drives! I thought it was fried. Calls to the software company (Norton) ended up in "India" with a promise for a supervisor to call back later that night... no call ever came. A call into the "Geek Squad" at Best Buy (where I bought it back in 2003) was never returned either! Service these days is severely lacking in many companies. To make a long story short, I think it was actually a new Seagate external USB 750 Gb hard drive that I installed a few days earlier that was the culprit. Needless to say, I'm calling Seagate in the morning. Aren't computers, software and websites fun?
