Recycling for Restoration
Christchurch has built its oyster program around its recycling program. We collect aluminum cans from school and the greater community and use the redemption to fund the oyster program. Cans are collected and redeemed at Middlesex Metals. Money collected is used to buy oyster seed and equipment. We help encourage recycling by showing that the community's efforts directly impact the water quality at the school’s waterfront and the Chesapeake Bay. Cans are collected by students, parents, and members of the greater community.
If you would like to start collecting cans and donate them to the Cans for Oyster program to improve the water quality in the Rappahannock River. Please contact Will Smiley; email@example.com. You may deliver your cans to Christchurch School, Café Mojo, or 181 Linden Ave in Urbanna.
