My 35+ year career as a painter and printmaker has taught me that making paintings is much more about creating believable fictions than it is about reporting. My paintings are about the places and things that surround me. It is usually the light and colors of a scene that first attract me. From there, the fictionalizing begins.
I received a BFA in Painting from the Philadelphia College of art, and an MFA from the University of Washington. My paintings can be seen at galleries in Washington and Oregon, and etchings and monoprints throughout the country. I work primarily in oil, but I have worked with watercolor, acrylic, egg tempera, and pencil as well.
Growing up in Pennsylvania, I migrated west to attend graduate school and never left. My current roost is on Whidbey Island, Where I share a house with Mehitabel the cat and assorted wldlife. (courtesy of said cat)
