6:00 PM - The Ghosts in Our Machine - Film
This multi-award winning documentary by Liz Marshall illuminates the lives of individual animals living within and
Ghosts in Our Machine
rescued from the machine of our modern world. Through the heart and photographic lens of acclaimed photographer Jo-Anne McArthur, we become intimately familiar with a cast of non-human animals. The film follows Jo-Anne over the course of a year as she photographs several animal stories in Canada, the U.S., and Europe. Each story is a window into global animal industries: Food, Fashion, Entertainment and Research.

Demond Johnson, AFAA, AFPA, IFA Certified Personal Fitness Trainer and owner of A2 Fitness Professionals will present an informative and interactive session about training on a vegan diet. Wear comfortable clothing for some light stretching/exercises. Demond is a retired combat veteran and has worked with contestants on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.”

Through personal narrative and research-based insight, Paul offers a unique perspective on how our food choices affect not only our health, but also the welfare of our planet. Delicious vegan snacks will be provided! Sponsored by The Mindful Eating Coalition of FUUCAA.

7:00 PM - Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr., M.D., "Ending the Heart Disease Epidemic"

Dr. Esselstyn, author of Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease and featured in the widely acclaimed film Forks Over Knives, will discuss the results of his groundbreaking 20-year nutritional study, which demonstrated that we can end the heart disease epidemic in the U.S. by changing what we eat. Thousands of Americans, including many in the Ann Arbor area, have taken a 7-Day Veg Pledge and are choosing meat-free meals for one week, helping animals, the planet, and their health--one meal at a time.
