Today Ulrich and Almaric returned for further work on the knees they cut out last Wednesday, at the regular weekly meeting. What a stack of metal plates!

For a few hours, Mikhail, Almaric, and Ulrich bashed away at the bits, taking flat 16 gauge steel and dishing it out into the three-dimensional shapes that will be welded together into the finished knees, finishing one entire knee cop (two pieces) each.

Those ones are now ready to weld into finished cops. One more session and we will have three sets of knees to weld up! After that, they will be making the attached las (as they aren't dished, just rolled, they will go pretty fast), sorting out the articulation (figuring out precisely where to put each pivoting rivet), and adding padding.

Cut out left and right sides on the left; dished pieces on the right.

The smaller dished piece on the top is for the inner side of the knee; the outside half directly below shows the larger fan that will protect the back of the knee. The two halves will be welded vertically up the centre of the knee.
