Writer, Editor, Researcher, Curator

I come from an academic background, as a doctoral candidate, tutor, and lecturer in German and Linguistics at the University of Oxford, and an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at the Humboldt University in Berlin. I am also a qualified and experienced CELTA tutor.

In September 2010, after an extended period of illness, I decided to  transfer my research skills to the art world, beginning with a research internship at Turner Contemporary, Margate. From May - September 2011, I held an exhibitions assistant internship at Matt Roberts ArtsMay 2011 saw my debut curatorial effort, with [ Word Incarnate ] at Trinity Arts Centre, Tunbridge Wells. My recent curation, Anything Goes? Contemporary British Painting, at Art Bermondsey Project Space, made FAD magazine's list of top 6 shows to see in London.

Since January 2011, I have been a regular contributor to the online art journal Studio International, for whom I write and present video interviews and reviewsI am Assistant Editor for Art Quarterly (Art Fund), former Deputy Editor for State media and former Arts Editor for DIVA magazine. I also write catalogue essays, reviews, interviews and profiles for various online and print publications, including Photomonitora-n Interface, Art Zip, Complex, RA Magazine, Platea, Elephant, the Mail on Sunday and the Guardian, and work as a freelance writer and editor, including proofreading let's sandbox, guest editing an issue of Art Selector on the theme of Text in Art, and being part of the original SLIK magazine team. All of this, as well as various further reviews and interviews, can be read on my blog. I am a member of the NUJ and WiJ and AICA (for whom I am also Web Editor). I am NCTJ certified.

In autumn 2013, I completed an MA in History of Art at Birkbeck, University of London.
