We hold that the following are among the values of Anglicanism which should be promoted and affirmed in the debates of our present time:

1. An openness to diversity of people, ideas and theology
2. The practice of love, compassion and
   empathy
3. A respect for intellectual freedom, critical thought and integrity
4. A respect for the search for truth in all faiths and human endeavours
5. A respect for the whole of scripture and the interpretative tradition through history
6. An acceptance of critical Biblical scholarship and an engagement with it in preaching and teaching
7. A passion for peace, social healing, justice and the halting of environmental degradation
8. An openness to new ideas and to trying new forms and structures, while maintaining the principle of dispersal of authority
