I am Angelo Basteris, a researcher working with Prof. Lorenzo Masia at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) on the development of a robot for wrist rehabilitation for people with stroke and orthopedic injuries (WristBot). In past, I worked on technologies for people with whiplash associated disorder and neck pain with Prof.Michele Sterling at Griffith University (Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia) and on home-based robot rehabilitation of people with stroke (SCRIPT project - Supervised Care and Rehabilitation Involving Personal Telerobotics - http://scriptproject.eu, coordinated by Dr. Farshid Amirabdollahian at University of Hertfordshire, UK). In my PhD research, I used technology for the rehabilitation of people with multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's Disease, at the Neurolab - DIBRIS - at University of Genoa (Italy), supervised by Prof. Vittorio Sanguineti. My dream is to see one of my ideas helping a lot of people. One of the attempts, for people with hand spasticity (perhaps after stroke) is here I believe that if we want to really improve healthcare with technology this has to be simple and provide a solution to contingent problems/needs, either for patients, their carers or professionals.
