In Scene: Filmable Moments in Fiction. Great scenes propel with the momentum of film. They hook fast, move the eye, exploit action, and heighten character emotion all the way to nail-biter endings. Bring a scene to take through in-class exercise and discover how stage business keeps action palpable, camera angles sharpen POV, and "beats" shape a scene, capturing not just "a" moment in time, but "the" moment that changes everything. http://continuingstudies.wisc.edu/classes/in-scene-filmable-moments-in-fiction When: Sa, Oct 10, 1-4:30pm Where: Pyle Center, 702 Langdon St, Madison, WI Cost: $70

Backstabbing, tantalizing clues, new information, even a wife looking at her husband in "that certain way," can turn a narrative inside out. We'll identify twists, turns and reveals in established writers' work - and your own - and show how they build the foundation for a well-plotted story.
