Brain Rules for Baby: How to Raise a Smart and Happy Child from Zero to Five
What’s the single most important thing you can do during pregnancy? What does watching TV do to a child’s brain? What’s the best way to handle temper tantrums? Scientists know.

In his New York Times bestseller Brain Rules, Dr. John Medina showed us how our brains really work?and why we ought to redesign our workplaces and schools. Now, in Brain Rules for Baby, he shares what the latest science says about how to raise smart and happy children from zero to 5. This book is destined to revolutionize parenting. Just one of the surprises: The best way to get your children into the college of their choice? Teach them impulse control.

Brain Rules for Baby bridges the gap between what scientists know and what parents practice. Through fascinating and funny stories, Medina, a developmental molecular biologist and dad, unravels how a child’s brain develops--and what you can do to optimize it.

You will view your children?and how to raise them?in a whole new light. You’ll learn:

Where nature ends and nurture begins
Why men should do more household chores
What you do when emotions run hot affects how your child turns out
TV is harmful for children under 2
Your child’s ability to relate to others predicts her future math performance
Smart and happy are inseparable. Pursuing your child’s intellectual success at the expense of his happiness achieves neither
Praising effort is better than praising intelligence
The best predictor of academic performance is not IQ. It’s self control

What you do right now?before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and through the first five years?will affect your children for the rest of their lives. Brain Rules for Baby is an indispensable guide.

I’m passing on my Jeans (GENES! Hahaha!) Get it…JEANS – GENES?! WHAT? WAIT? Is Marcelle saying that they’re having a baby?! YES HE IS!!!! We’re going to have a little camera toting newborn coming into the new world in about 28 weeks! The waiting phase is over. We’re twelve weeks as of today and the baby looks strong and healthy! I can’t believe I’m going to be a dad! No seriously, “I” am going to be in charge of teaching another little human being……EVERYTHING they’ll need to know to get them started in life! Wait a second! I don’t recall taking the parent certification test! What if I miss some of the answers on the exam! I can’t send my kid out into the world with miss-information. What kind of father would I be? Holy crap, I knew I should have studied more. If only I could go back in time and take better notes! Oh man, I honestly don’t think 28 weeks in enough time to get my act together. I guess this little guy (or girl) is just going to have to love dear ol’ dad even with my faults and shortcomings. Do we know what we’re having yet? NOPE! We’ll find out in about 4-6 weeks. What do we want? A BOY! Boys are easier and I don’t want to have to worry about little boys with my little girl! (Come here son. Let me show you how I clean my guns!) Do we have names picked out? Nothing solid yet. Suzanne told me, “NOTHING FROM FRIENDS!” When is the baby due? Jan 27th. Am I doing an overlapping 365 with the baby?! HAHAHAHA……ummmm YEA! Nothing elaborate or over the top, just a daily shot of the babies first year. There may be an occasional lighting shot…lol. It’ll be REALLY cool to look back in ten years and see the progression (and the memories). If anyone has any recommendations on good DADDY to be books, please let me know. I found one out of like 10 that I looked at that didn’t make men out to be awful chauvinistic pigs. I swear every book I’ve see (for dads) seems stereotypical. There was even a book entitled “The Caveman’s Pregnancy Companion”. Need I say more?! Dear Peanut, I promise to do my best. I will protect you from all of lives pains whenever parentally possible. I will teach you right from wrong. I will show you compassion and to use it towards others. I will listen to you with an open heart and try to help guide you during your times of need. I will always be here for you even when my presence is not wanted. I will respect your ideas as you grow and I will support your decisions. At times you may hate me for the decisions I enforce, even still; know that I only have your best interest at heart. I hope that you know and understand that even when you frustrate me to the point of utter disappointment and anger; you are my child, my blood, my life. I will always love you. I can’t wait to see you smile. I love you P.s. I don’t care that I told you that you could go with your friend’s. You mom already told you no! NOW…you don’t get to go with your friends AND GROUNDED!!! Babies to Feed.... every 2 minutes or so~!
This was so amazing... a huge maple tree in a neighbor's yard was topped off at about 8-10 feet due to electric wires overhead, leaving it to branch out heavily below that. This Red Breasted Sapsucker ( I think?) has a little flock of babies in this tiny hole, and for some of the shots I was standing only about 6 feet away, holding my camera ready and focused for the 2-4 minutes it took between runs for the birds to take turns bringing food to the babies. I was not able yet to get shots of the babies inside the dark hole... altho I could see their little wide open beaks and hear their constant crying... I laughed thinking of how desperate that constant crying would make me feel as a mother!!! I am glad you all enjoyed those filly shots as much as I have... she was so adorable! There will be more shots of her later... also, for those who commented on my dedication to my sis, thank you so much... and there is a photo of my daughter, my sis and myself from last year that I moved forward beside the flower dedication Dahlia...however it is friends and family only, sorry! I also left comments for everyone who commented on the skunk shot, if you want to go see!

How To Make A Baby Girl
An easy-to-read handbook, which details natural methods that may make it more likely to conceive a baby girl.

Henry VIII knew what he wanted when it came to his heirs, but he would have never predicted that 400 years later, people would still seek answers to the question: How Can I Make A Baby Girl or Baby Boy?

Dr. Mark Moore and his wife, Lisa, a pediatric nurse, have seen firsthand a universal desire among patients to have balanced families. Their book: How to Make a Baby Girl has been purchased by tens of thousands around the globe in search of such answers. Now in it's fourth printing, it has sold copies in the fifty states, Canada and worldwide in places such as Argentina, New Zealand, Istanbul, Switzerland, Shanghai, even Antarctica.

“We spent a large part of our life helping people in our hospital practice, now we’re touching lives thousands of miles away. It’s rewarding to share this knowledge with people from all corners of the globe.”

This book would make an ideal gift – purchased by friends, aunts and uncles, parents and grandparents – for holidays, birthdays, engagements, bridal showers and weddings as well as any parent-to-be.

A portion of the profits are donated to women’s and children’s charities.
