Veterans In Construction Electrical

ANEW provides enrollment and case management services to qualified veterans who are accepted into Veterans in Construction Electrical (VICE).

What is VICE?

VICE is an accelerated training program sponsored jointly by the National Electrical Contractors Association and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.    

VICE is great option for active military personnel getting ready to transition from service and who want to line up a high-demand civilian job. No prior electrical experience is necessary!

The 14-week training program is held at the Puget Sound Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee facility in Renton, Washington. VICE is FREE for qualified applicants and is funded by government grants and industry donations.


  • 18 years old or older
  • Service within the last 7 years
  •  High School Diploma or GED
  •   DD- 214 | Proof of honorable discharge (or letter from commander verifying honorable discharge – active military personnel only)
  • Sealed High School Transcript
  • A "C" grade in high school Algebra OR college level Algebra course
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to live in Washington State for duration of training

Steps to Apply for VICE

1. Schedule an appointment by calling 206.381.1384.
2. Complete an application for VICE with ANEW staff.
3. Complete interview with Puget Sound Electrical JATC.
