Granada boasts some of the best mountain biking you can get in the south of Spain - with the Sierrra Nevadas on its doorstep (20km) and Las Alpujarras to the south (35km) - but you don't need to go that far - chuck your bike on the plane and fly direct to granada airport from London/Liverpool (Ryanair/Monarch) from as little as 10 euros (+ 18 quid odd for bike) each way. The airport bus (3 euros) takes half an hour, then from the centre of granada you can ride up to the hills with fantastic trails and views and in less than an hour!
* Get Google Earth - the best way to virtually explore/discover the trails - now available for Linux too!
Even on the odd occasion that it does rain - you wouldn't know it if you went out riding a few hours later - dusty and dry best describes the trails in this part of the world!
This view towards the Sierra Nevadas, looks out over some of the trails detailed in this site - and this point is only a 20 minute cycle from the centre of Granada (up hill - of course)!
Trails for everyone - easy going dirt tracks to insane boulder strewn downhill
Above a 360 from the Cerro Del Sol, left is a view towards the Alhambra from the hills above Sacromonte, below that is a view of the Sierra Nevadas in summer from near Cerro Del Sol. (click image for full size view)
