"As spring outside plays hide and seek..."
As spring outside plays hide and seek,
Explain to her that she’s not stable,
Go tell this wild one she’s weak,
Her eyes will tell you it’s a fable.
Her knees - still swollen, but she moves
As if arthritis is a figment
Written on paper, and the proofs
Are in her joints, in her ligaments.
You cannot pluck this from a shelf,
You cannot find this in some study.
It isn’t blood, it’s Life herself,
That is the landlord of her body!
It’s time for doctors to re-think
Their diagnosis. All-forgiving,
The one who ventured to the brink
Is more alive than all the living.
