"She swaps a 'yesterday' ..."
She swaps a “yesterday” for a “tomorrow”
and no one notices. The clocks are fast,
too fast for anyone to keep the score of
all that that is coming and all that’s passed.
-“What did you do tomorrow, grandpa?”
-“I’ll come to Boston to see my baby.
I told you Thursday. Don’t you remember?”
-“No, no, ‘tomorrow’ that’s passed already.”
Last week’s “tomorrow” has passed already,
today’s “tomorrow’s” not far behind…
Today, - his "baby,” tomorrow – “lady,”
a few more days – he's old and blind.
