Drew Donnelly

Drew Donnelly is a member of Actors’ Equity Association. A staple of the Chicago Storefront Theatre community, he is proud to be a company member of the Jeff Award Winning Hell in a Handbag Productions. As stage manager, he has facilitated the production of over a dozen Chicago shows including world premiers, remounts, and extended runs. He specializes in musicals and plays with multimedia, and is excited to dig into new works from the first workshop to opening night. He also has a passion for producing fundraisers and charitable events for the arts and surrounding communities.

Earning a Bachelor of Arts from West Texas A&M University gave many opportunities for a broad education in theatre, including roles such as sound designer (Twelfth Night), scenic crew head (Sight Unseen), fly operator (The Marriage of Bette and Boo), and light board programmer (Cabaret). In neighboring Palo Duro Canyon, Drew earned three years experience working on Texas: The Musical Drama as properties manager and deck manager.

Getting his start in Chicago stage managing with, and becoming a member of, Mary-Arrchie Theatre Company where work included the highly acclaimed Jeff Recommended The Glass Menagerie (original Angel Island and remounted Theatre Wit runs, in addition to Three Oaks Theatre Festival performance) and 4 time Jeff Award nominated Superior Donuts (including the "Best of Chicago" run in association with Metropolis Performing Arts Centre). Drew reunited with Donuts director Matt Miller for the Irish Theatre Of Chicago (formerly Seanachai Theatre Co.) hit production of The Seafarer. Other companies Drew has had the pleasure to work with include Pine Box Theater Company, EX-Pats Theatre Company, Rasaka Theatre, Jackalope Theatre, and Circle Theatre (notably for the return of their smash hit, Triassic Parq). He is particularly proud of his work on world premiers by TUTA Theatre, Underscore Theatre, and especially with Shannon Evans at Prop Thtr for two wicked RJ Tsarov premiers.

Outside of the stage manager's booth, Drew had the pleasure of assistant directing Hans Fleischmann's Glass Menagerie reworking at The Hypocrites. He often works as Lead Electrician for Hell in a Handbag and has taken to picking up a screw driver while assisting the construction of Kokandy Production sets.
