Andrew fell in love with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1999. It was love-at-first-grapple! His friend, Ronn, who was an instructor under Pedro Sauer, in Utah, introduced Jiu-Jitsu to Andrew. He felt that Jiu-Jitsu would be good for Andrew's spirit since at that time, Andrew was struggling with some personal challenges. It was an answer to Andrew's prayers! Jiu-Jitsu was so liberating and real! Andrew gave it his all with his first couple of opponents and they all made him tap! In addition, they were all smaller and lighter than him. Andrew was amazed at how these smaller guys would fight from their backs (a seemingly inferior position) and still be on the offensive. Andrew was tapping out left and right to arm bars, triangles, and chokes! Andrew was converted right then and there; Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu had proved itself and passed the test! Andrew has been an unwavering devoted and dedicated fan and practioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ever since that fateful day.
