Welcome to my website!

I am currently a PhD student in the Cognitive Psychology division at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, working in collaboration with Dr. Duane Watson.  My research makes use of behavioral and computational approaches to study prosody - the rhythm, intonation, and intensity of speech - as a way to explore what mechanisms underlie language production, comprehension, and acquisition.

Some of my past research explores what prosody can tell us about the mechanisms that underlie language production, how communicational context affects how speakers use prosody, and how listeners use information from other levels of language to parse prosodic structure.  More recent research has focused on whether and how listeners adapt to new ways of using prosody, and on how listeners incorporate cues from multiple levels of language in order to reach an interpretation for a message.
