Instructors: Meet Helen

Helen Nordic Walking in Wye Valley

After experiencing lower back and leg problems during my first pregnancy and then again with my second, it was Pilates that helped me regain my strength and got me running again. Not to say that the running has continued that frequently, but when I do run, I can do it pain free and with much less effort!
I wanted to set up Pilates for other antenatal ladies that may be experiencing the same difficulties, and this was where the idea began.

I am a fully qualified and HPC registered Physiotherapist.
I spent 10 years working in London Teaching Hospitals before moving to Andover when my son was born in 2008. My Physiotherapy career continued at Winchester Hospital focusing on Rehabilitation and I was able to incorporate Pilates into the treatment of a wide range of conditions in my day to day practice.

'Andover Pilates and Physiotherapy' was set up following the arrival of my daughter. I started running classes in June 2012 and decided to leave the NHS in September 2012 to concentrate on discovering and enjoying that 'perfect' work/family life balance.... and so far it's been a huge success! I feel so fortunate to be able to do a job I thoroughly love, learn new things daily and meet many lovely people. The classes have become a real social point for us all.

I have been trained by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and have  completed the following APPI Pilates courses:
  • Matwork 1 (Beginners)
  • Matwork 2 (Class Instructor)
  • Matwork 3 (Intermediate/ Advanced)
  • Ante and post natal Pilates
  • Pilates and Neurology
  • 3D Pilates in Standing Level 1
  • Pilates and the Theraband
  • Pilates and Osteoporosis
  • Pilates and Scoliosis
