Starting in the fall of 2011, ETLP (Easton Technology Leadership Program) will be supporting 10 ETLP students getting actively involved in Anderson Toastmasters. This will be a great partnership between ETLP and Anderson Toastmasters, both of which are dedicated to help future business leaders improve leadership and communication skills. Here was the announcement from ETLP. If you are an ETLP member, apply soon.
Hello Easton Students,
As you have read in our previous email, the Easton Program is co-sponsoring Anderson Toastmasters this year. Please see below for an overview of the Toastmasters organization. The Easton Program site also has more information about Toastmasters (http://www.anderson.ucla.edu/x37317.xml).
Anderson Toastmasters, started by Anderson FEMBAs, is a meeting designed for Anderson students to practice and learn public speaking and leadership skills by filling a meeting role. These roles range from giving a prepared speech or an impromptu one, to serving as a timer, evaluator, or grammarian. There is no instructor; instead, each speech and meeting is critiqued by a member in a positive manner, focusing on what was done right and what could be improved. The attached file gives more information about the Toastmasters experience.
Starting this quarter, Easton Technology Leadership Program will co-sponsor 10 Easton students to actively participate in Anderson Toastmasters. ETLP will cover half of the membership dues and sponsored students need to complete 5 speeches within one school year. This is open to current ETLP students who would like to become a new member or who are already a member of Anderson Toastmasters. For those who are interested, please write a short paragraph on what skills you would like to improve through Anderson Toastmaster, and how you can see it help. Paragraphs are due on Oct. 8th to email@example.com. Space is limited so please apply now.
