AWN going to Stone Age Camp at Out of Eden

Bill and Mark from the Ancient Wessex Network are going to the Stone Age Camp at Out of Eden somewhere in mid Wales in mid August.

From Monday 19th to Thursday 22nd August Bill is leading neolithic pottery appreciation and making sessions, preparing clay, making & decoration pots and firing them in bonfire and turf kiln.

Do something different this summer – come and be a part of this pioneering little festival of ancient arts- Our first Neolithic camp!

Come and soak up the tranquillity of our lovely site in the Cambrian mountains. Tickets will be £25/day for camping and food, (or £100 for the whole week) under 16s £12.50 and under fives free.

There will be people practicing various skills during the days. Nights for star gazing and feasting. In addition there will be short courses and taster sessions for those that want an introduction to the practice of stone age crafts. These will be charged at £20 for each half day session and as spaces are limited we advise everyone to book in advance - essential for courses like basketmaking and tanning where materials must be prepared in advance. Children's sessions (archery, games, crafts) will be £10 for each half day.

Programme includes Bone and Antler working, Flint Knapping, Fish and Deer skin tanning, Bronze casting, Neolithic pottery making and firing, Build a Neolithic House, Cordage and net making, Prehistoric rock art and cave painting

There will be a limited number of free tickets for those with practical skills who are willing to demonstrate, or to musicians - please ask if you think you have a stone age skill you can share.
