Example of a printed Mirakelbuch from Dorfen. Presented by Roland Götz in online lecture. On the entries from the book is given below:
Elisabetha Obermayrin von Kopffspurg Lengdorffner Pfarr/ 43 years old had a little daughter named Anna age 13. Her kneecaps fell out and her knee swelled up to the size of a child's head, so that she had to crawl for two years and no remedy helped; so the mother consecrated her daughter to Unser Leiben Frauen in the village of Dorfen and she made votive offerings after which the foot became smaller from day to day and she was able to walk again on the 13th of June in 1708.
Dr. Götz suggested the following research possibilities when studying the Miracle books:
Local and parish history
Family history
Pilgrimage history: origins and concerns of the pilgrims
History of piety
Folklore: Votive customs
History of medicine: diseases, epidemics, treatment methods
History of everyday life
political history: wars
