Welcome! I work at the Delaware Center for Teacher Education at the University of Delaware. My duties are to provide professional development and support
to science teachers in Delaware and surrounding states. My research focuses broadly on P-16 science education; it is synergistic with my teaching as I work to prepare science teachers who teach in classrooms with diverse student populations. Specific foci of my research agenda include: classroom assessment, environmental science and science teacher education. At the heart of my work are issues related to social justice. Through my research and teaching, I endeavor to prepare pre-service and in-service teachers to utilize pedagogy that promotes inclusive, equitable forms of science inquiry in classrooms to support learners in developing scientific literacy, which is not only a framework of basic scientific principles, but also an understanding of the fundamental interrelationship between humans and the environment.
