My Friend, The Ostrich

If you happen to arrive into Bloemfontein, South Africa, with no accommodation, you may end up at the Protea Hotel Willow Lake. Then when you wake up in the morning and look at your surroundings, this little friend is waiting to greet you. My friend, the ostrich, happened to live at a nearby zoo, which lies in the back yard of the hotel. When most of the other animals were out in the main part of the zoo, this ostrich seemed to always stay near the hotel and was happy to meet and greet the new arrivals. I later learned people eat ostrich in South Africa and from that point I vowed I would never eat any of my friend's fellow family members during my stay.
