Welcome! The Central North Carolina Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (CNCC-AMS) is an autonomous local chapter of the American Meteorological Society made up of professional meteorologists, professors/teachers, students, and other interested individuals from throughout the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill) and surrounding region of Central North Carolina. Founded in 1968, the CNCC-AMS has a well respected nearly 50-year history, including membership of numerous prominent individuals in the professional and academic meteorological communities and two past presidents of the national American Meteorological Society.

The CNCC-AMS meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of the month from September through April in Jordan Hall on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh. These meetings are open to anyone that has interest in attending and participating in this meteorological networking and informational exchange. Please click on the Meetings tab above to learn more about our next Chapter meeting or special function.

If you are interested in joining the CNCC-AMS, you are welcome to do so at any Chapter meeting. You can also contact the Chapter Treasurer (see the Officers tab above) to make other arrangements to mail-in the dues payments. Annual dues are are only $10 per year ($5 per year for students) with half of that cost going to the Chapter's Academic Achievement Award, which is awarded each year at our Annual Chapter Banquet to a select group of outstanding students graduating from colleges and universities in Central North Carolina.

The Central North Carolina Chapter is proud to have been awarded the Honor Roll distinction by the American Meteorological Society for the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 years.
