Remember telegrams? They're back!

An alternative to WhatsApp and Twitter

As many of you will know, the huge social network organisations, mostly based in the state of California, are silencing Conservative voices in the lead up to the 2020 US Presidential election. If you are left of centre, is that OK with you? Remember the poem by Martin Niemöller?

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Among those banned are Alex Jones of Infowars, Paul Joseph Watson, Laura Loomer and others. The list is expanding almost daily, with Milo Yiannopoulos and Faith Gold now added. These people have moved to Telegram. This company has moved their base to the Middle East to ensure that American companies and the EU cannot control them. Telegram have said they will not tolerate political censorship on their platform.

These people have their own groups on Telegram and, unless you are interested in what they have to say, you won’t see their posts. This is ideal if you aren’t into politics of course. You can have a group as well, and it is free.

Telegram also have Channels and I have opened one for Ampers’ Rants. If you are on Telegram, join @AmpersRants and the only posts you will see will be the article title two or three lines of description, and a link to the article. This will save you coming in to check what’s new ever, you will see all article details on the channel.

In this format:

Title of article Two or three lines of description Hot link direct to the article

If you have a sound on in Telegraph, you’ll hear it, and when you pull down the notifications page from the top, you’ll see there’s a message for you from @AmpersRants in the Telegram app.

Click on that and you’ll be taken straight away to the @AmpersRants page in the Telegram app on your iPhone or Android..

There you will see the title, description and link direct to the article in the ampers.me.uk website. It’s really is that quick and easy.

You can elect to read it straight away, ignore it as the subject doesn't interest you, or come back to it in your coffee break!

To join the channel, just click the search button (magnifying glass) at the top, and type in @AmpersRants and you're in.

Apart from Channels, it has everything else that WhatsApp has except the censorship. Which has been enough for me to move over to it.

I am @AmpersUK on Telegram. If you have "newbie problems", ask me and I will try to help.
