Wind Symphony

Criteria: Auditioned
Meets: 7:00-7:55 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

Description:

Comprised of approximately 60 music students who have attained the highest level of proficiency on their instruments, the AAS Wind Symphony is the premiere ensemble of the Stagg band program. Performing the finest available repertoire, the ensemble's performances include traditional wind band literature and new compositions in the wind band genre.

Members of this group are expected to make a 100 percent commitment to the ensemble, including participation in festivals, competitions, and possible weekend performing tours, sectionals, and additional rehearsals. There is an expectation that top students will actively participate in woodwind and brass quintets, clarinet choir, and other chamber ensembles throughout the school year.

Students selected for this ensemble must include daily practice in their lifestyle in order to maintain the necessary level of musical proficiency. Students enrolled in this course are strongly encouraged to participate in private instruction. Auditions for the AAS Wind Symphony are held once per school year or as necessary to maintain the desired instrumentation.
