Amo is a small midwest town located about 25 miles west of Indianapolis. It is part of the Mill Creek Community and has a population of about 500 people. Anxious to preserve Amo's history, it's citizens purchased the old Interurban Depot in 2001. By 2006 rennovation of the Depot was complete and ready to open as a library and musuem. The Amo Interurban Depot first opened to passengers in July 1901. During the height of Interurban transporation there were 15 daily stops from Indianapolis. By 1940 the automobile had become the preferred mode of transportation and the Depot closed. During the 1950's the Depot building was used as part of a local grain mill.
