The Great Gatsby

Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on one of the most revered American novels: The Great Gatsby! The Great Gatsby was written by Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald who was born on September 24, 1896. He was named after his ancestor Francis Scott Key, the author of "The Star Spangled Banner."  While serving as a second lieutenant in Montgomery, Alabama, Fitzgerald met and fell in love with Zelda Sayre. The two did not marry until Fitzgerald achieved notable success in 1920. The Great Gatsby was not published until 1925. Many of Fitzgerald's early life experiences are represented in this novel.
