I am an Assistant Professor of Physics in Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, working in the Department of Physics. Earlier, I held a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Oxford, United Kingdom from 2013-2016. Before that, I was Post-Doctoral Research Assistant at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India, after my Ph.D. in Kolkata at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, India.

Our research group investigates experimentally quantum properties of novel electronic and magnetic materials using physical properties, muon spin spectroscopy, and neutron scattering measurements.  The major thrust of our group is to know how electrons organize themselves in quantum materials to lead to unusual properties, such as high-temperature superconductivity, unconventional superconductivity, geometrically frustrated states, quantum spin liquid states etc. Understanding emergent quantum phenomena is a significant challenge of materials physics and a requirement for future technologies that intend to manipulate in a controlled way the quantum properties of many electrons. A strong emphasis of our research is in the quantitative comparison of the experimental data with modern theories. We have strong collaborations with leading theory groups worldwide who develop new theoretical models to confront our experimental results.

JRF position available:

Applications are invited for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in the Department of Physics for a DST funded project “Single crystal growth, understanding and optimizing strongly correlated electron based materials”.

Minimum Qualification:

JRF: M.Sc. or equivalent degree with 60% marks in Physics with a valid GATE score. NET/ NET (LS) qualified candidates will be preferable.

SalaryAs per the prescribed rule of DST.
