  • Semester 2 Wrap-up The last day that I'll accept any missing projects or homework grades will be Thursday, May 17th. This has been announced and I have done everything but beg for missing work to be turned in. It had to be attached to an email and sent to me.If all goes well, we will have completed the Manufacturing Unit and the kids will have a product to take home that was manufactured using an Intermittent Style. We will be using the Autodesk Inventor Certification Test as part of the Final Exam. I have had the study guide on this website for quite some time now and have announced this on a day basis for weeks.  The other section of the ...

  • Semester 2 April Update DEBATES: For the most part, the Technology Debates were interesting and several teams did some serious research to back up their points. Many are missing pieces that had to be submitted for grades. (emailed 5 possible topics, printed two page reports) At this point, I will only accept the missing reports for 30 of the 40 points. Grades will be updated when the work is turned in. Parents, if you see a mediocre grade, some teams did not produce the required presentation to go along with the debate and lost 25 of the 50 points for team presentation. Everyone had two solid weeks of uninterrupted class time to prepare.MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING: As of Monday, April 9 the class shifted into ...

  • Semester 2 March 30 Update Solid Modeling: With the last few weeks of school ahead, time is up for Inventor 3D design training. Students on the introduction track are expected to complete all drawings through the end of chapter 8. All students who have declared "advanced track" started at chapter 9 and should have completed the guidebook. Students who are behind may complete missing drawings on their own time, during Thursday Tutorials or when time is available in class. Grades will be entered as they are submitted. So that I can grade your drawings outside of the time you are logged in, I have instructed that all drawings be "screen captured" and pasted on a MS Word file and e-mailed to me. Title each ...

Standout Students

  • 3-Dimensional Masters I want to recognize some extremely hard working and talented CAD (Computer Aided Design) students. The classes were assigned either Chapters 1-8 (1st-time students) or Chapters 9-15 (previous experience) in our Autodesk Inventor Training Textbooks. We offer version 2010. The following students excelled and made short work of the assignments. Some took advantage of the additional training and use our 3-D printer as well as the Virtual CNC Machine. A salute goes out to:Brittany Sears, Joseph Riley, Olympia Searcy, Taylor Polissant, David Shoneye, Brittney Thompson, Teddy Cole, Brandon Pledger, Rufus Foreman, Cameron Thomas, Amera Dixon, Kayla Turner, Brandon Long, Je'Rhonda Brown, Alivia Cromartie, Devon Daniels, Ashli Matthews, and Zack McCord. Special recognition goes to ...

  • Paper Platform Challenge Standouts At the end of 1st Semester, Engineering Concepts Students were given a problem solving challenge. The design brief required that a platform meeting specified dimension limits be constructed from four, three by five notecards, three inches of masking tape and Elmer's glue. The platform had to support the weight of a single cinder block (roughly 33 pounds) for their 100 points. Failure was not an option. After coaching and strategy instruction, teams and individuals took three days to complete the structural engineering assignment. After the initial disbelief and doubt, structures were tested and if they held the brick, more were stacked on until the platform failed. Two measurements were recorded: the total weight held for at least 3 seconds ...
