Registration and Fees


Early Bird Registration


Early bird registration occurs during the last 2 weeks of a given season. It gives ONLY current season members, (in good financial standing, that have completed all their parental obligations), the opportunity to secure their Amherst Swim Team membership for the next season, by paying an early (e.g. before spring registration) nonrefundable Amherst Swim Team membership fee and filling out next season’s medical form.

Please note that Maude Neiding pool membership for the next season cannot be purchased during early bird registration. That purchase must be made prior to each season at the AMHERST CITY TREASURER’S OFFICE. Other business such as suit purchases, handbook distribution, parent volunteer sign ups, and volunteer times will be handled at spring registration. EVEN THOUGH YOUR SWIMMER MAY HAVE BEEN REGISTERED AT EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION, YOU ARE STILL REQUIRED TO ATTEND SPRING REGISTRATION.


Spring Registration


Spring registration occurs in early March and April just prior to the swim season, and ATTENDANCE TO ONE OF THESE TWO REGISTRATION EVENTS IS REQUIRED FOR JULY EARLY BIRD REGISTRANTS. The March and April registration is open to Amherst School District students and/or full-time residents who are interested in joining the team.  Please note that the Amherst Swim Team has a large membership and we limit the number of swimmers for both boys and girls in all but the youngest competitive age groups. This is done to provide adequate practice time, guarantee at least 2 events per meet, and ensure swimmer safety.

Only NEW SWIMMERS to the team will begin practice on Friday, JUNE 10, 2016.

In order to meet insurance requirements, a safety assessment that will insure that the swimmer can safely swim the 25 yard length of the Maude Neiding Pool will be done during the first practice.  Any swimmer not passing the assessment will be ruled INELLIGIBLE for the swim season, and a refund of swim team fees will be given. 

Returning swimmers along with the eligible new swimmers will begin their regular practice on Monday, JUNE 13, 2016. (See practice and competition rules for times.)

Other activities that occur during registration are as follows:

  1. Medical forms are completed or updated.
  2. Handbooks, including the season’s meet schedule are distributed.
  3. New swimsuits are ordered.
  4. Merchandise, such as sweat pants, shirts caps are ordered.
  5. Parents select and sign-up for their season’s volunteer duties.


Amherst Swim Team Membership Fee

Fees for Amherst School district full-time resident for the 2016 season are $100 per swimmer ($150 after May 10), plus $5 pop fee, and a membership (or swim team membership) for the Maude Neiding Pool.  Please contact the Amherst City Treasurer’s Office for Maude Neiding Pool membership fees.

The Amherst Swim Team is open to Amherst School District residents and/or students. The membership fee amount will be announced yearly prior to Spring Registration. Checks are to be made payable to the Amherst Swim Team and must be paid no later than the last registration date set for Spring Registration. This fee is NON REFUNDABLE, with the exception of a failed safety assessment.

Parent volunteer obligations of 3 assignments per year are required. Parents may sign up for these at spring registration held in March; however, you can volunteer to assist throughout the season.

Maude Neiding Pool Membership Fee

A separate pool membership for the Maude Neiding Pool is REQUIRED to participate on the Amherst Swim Team. There are several types of memberships available. Inquire and pay at the Amherst City Treasurer’s Office, 408 Park Ave. (next to the Amherst Public Library). Amherst Swim Team and Pool Membership MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO THE FIRST PRACTICE OF THE SEASON. Swimmers will not be permitted to practice if membership fees are not paid.


pop fees

Members are required to pay one time $5.00 pop fee for the season, this allows the concession committee to purchase pop and water (to sell at concessions) in advance for each home meet. This fee MUST be paid at Spring Registration.

Members are required to pay a $5.00 fee for each missed snack. (see concession info.)


Insufficient Funds Fee

Members are required to pay the Amherst Swim Team any bank fees associated with insufficient funds checks.

**Please note that unpaid SNACK or POP fees along with any insufficient funds fees are cause to refuse membership in the Amherst Swim Team for the next year.
