Get Prelaw Advising

Welcome to the American University Pre-law Advising site. Here you will find an overview of the major elements to consider in deciding if, when, or where to go to law school. If you have more questions or want to discuss the details, consult with your pre-law advisor.

The AU Career Center provides one-on-one pre-law advising to American University students and alumni. Pre-law advising topics include, but are not limited to, law school decision-making, developing strong application materials, and selecting the right law school. To schedule an advising session with a pre-law advisor, please call the Career Center at (202) 885-1804.

You may also choose to first meet with your academic advisor to discuss coursework options. Contact your academic advisor for more information. Check out the Career Center Library Catalogue for law school-related materials including circulating and non-circulating LSAT prep books.
