Curriculum developed in conjunction with the US Department of Homeland Security and New Mexico Tech EMRTC. 

Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings (IRTB): Awareness Level

  • Description: This course provides an overview on response procedures for terrorist incidents involving energetic materials (explosives and incendiaries). Components of the course include classroom presentations that address potential terrorist bombing targets in U.S. communities, common military and commercial explosives available to terrorists, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and response procedures that support safe and effective operations during bombing incidents.

Prevention of and Response to Suicide Bombing Incidents (PRSBI): Awareness Level

  • Description: This course provides training on suicide bombing threats, including steps that individual emergency responders can take in order to recognize pre-attack indicators, assisting in the prevention of suicide bombings and safe response to a suicide bombing incident. An overview of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and explosive materials typically used in suicide bombings is included.

Understanding and Planning for School Bomb Incident (UPSBI): Awareness Level

  • Description: This course provides an overview on bombing threats specific to schools, threat assessment, warning signs, recognition and components of explosives/IEDs, and development of preventative and response measures, including evacuation. This course is ideal for school personnel and those who may respond to incidents at academic institutions.
