Talavera Lizard - Hand Painted Wall Hanging Decor, Large, Assorted Colors
This is a Talavera Lizard measuring about 9" Long x 10" Wide. The picture shows several painting styles and the one you recieve will be identical in shape and size but the color and pattern will vary. Each piece is made of ceramic and painted in the traditional Talavera style. Since each piece is individually hand painted by Talavera artists, no two pieces will be identical and the picture is a representation of the general painting patterns and colors used. Talavera is an art form that has its roots starting in the 16th Century. Original styles have been influenced with Spanish, Arabic, Italian and Chinese origins. The Spaniards brought the technique to Mexico with a distinctive style that came from Talavera de la Reina, a city in the central part of Spain.

Studio Re-organization: South Wall After
Studio Re-organization: South Wall After
Oh, so much better. And so much hidden storage! These are the Billy bookshelves from IKEA (I have the same ones in the living room) with the half panel Olsbo doors. They were super easy to build and put the doors on. And the little Kassett organizing boxes (also from IKEA) were super cheap, easy to assemble, and fit perfectly. Plus, they have little label holders. I can't tell you how much I just love little label holders. I tried to group things by type, but that got a little messed up after a bit. I'm sure I'll re-organize again sometime, but for now, I'm just doing minor revisions on this in order to move on and get to doing creative stuff!

Found: This is an old warehouse owned by the Sauer-McShane Mercantile Company, the grocers for Central City, Colorado. An artist took over the building and built a residency and studio on the second floor. Accounts of hauntings by the old artist, di Benedetto, claim that later owners moved furniture only to find they were moved back to original placements. This happened repeatedly, they say. The old wall and wooden doors have character, texture, color and charm that appeal to me. I don't know about the hauntings but the door itself seems to stand as test of time like an old hourglass with sand at the bottom.
