Wendy's
Wendy's
If you know me, you probably know I love Wendy's food. Seriously, the Baconator and all of their chicken menu options are all fantastic. Unfortunately I hadn't been to Wendy's since April 2010 (a seriously long time!) before today, since my Mom has had some odd and horrible affliction since we got back from our vacation last year around that same time, which mostly involves being motion sick and having unending vertigo. Because of those issues, she's been unable to drive much further than the Canadian Tire in Wilson Creek (let alone work or leave the house much), but as I had to go to Gibsons today to visit the School District 46 offices (needed to pick up transcripts, since I'm applying at Capilano University on Tuesday) and it was time-sensitive, she decided to give the trip a go, especially since her doctor had told her in the past that pushing herself would lead to getting over whatever is ailing her. So we made the trip in the afternoon, around 2:30 PM, and arrived in Lower Gibsons at 3:30. The school board offices close at 4:30, so… we had a bit of leeway if she had needed to stop part way there for any reason. Anyhoo, as I said, after making a quick stop in Sechelt at the post office to pick up some parcels, we headed to Gibsons, I went into the school board office, picked up my transcripts (as well as something known as a "Passport to Education", which is worth $250 towards post-secondary education. That rocks.) and then decided to stop by London Drugs quickly to do a bit of shopping. My Mom purchased a new set of wireless headphones and a mousepad, and we purchased some iPhone 4 cases for their phones (which according to the tracking numbers should arrive Monday or Tuesday) as well as some screen protectors for the same purpose. We also did some browsing in the tech department, looking at possible gaming computers for her (she spends a lot of time playing EverQuest II and World of Warcraft these days, whilst housebound) and ended up deciding I'd just build her one. After that we went to Wendy's, ate the awesome meal that's pictured (although all you can really see are fries and drinks, we also each had a burger, mine being a Baconator… the best fast food burger I can find in Canada. (Somehow doesn't hold a candle to In-N-Out, though it has bacon, whilst theirs does not.) We then headed straight home, and after arriving we rested, opened the new stuff (as well as my parcels from Canada Post, which were mostly cases and a Wrapsol for my iPhone 4S which I won't have for at least a week or more) and relaxed, watching Castle before Ty showed up to hang out. One quick note about my iPhone 4S--I placed the preorder with TELUS Mobility on the 7th, they finally called back to confirm it on the 13th, but told me it won't be shipped for at least a week, and will take another week to arrive. I'm truly astounded sometimes by how companies don't understand the concept of a preorder. In my book (as well as most others, I'm guessing) you pay for something before its release date, to confirm that you'll get it by the release date, or incredibly shortly after… like a day, due to shipping issues. TELUS is great, don't get me wrong, I love the service we've had from them in the past, but I'm out $420~, and won't see the newly released iPhone 4S for another week at the least, even though I paid for it a week ago. That just seems wrong to me, especially when local TELUS dealerships have them in and ready to purchase. Why did I bother pre-ordering it? (Because I had to renew my contract as well, which I couldn't do at the local dealership without incurring nearly $100 in fees, that's why. But the wait sucks either way you slice it.) What's worse (other than that this "quick note" is taking 3-ish paragraphs) is that my parents will receive their iPhone 4 16GB Black phones on Monday, after ordering 'em Thursday, after only paying $50 a piece for them. I hate that they'll have better phones than me for a week, but I'll have to get over it. I just want that 8MP camera so badly…

The microphone and stool awaiting Simon Day's return onto stage in the Weston Studio of the Wales Millenium Centre in Cardiff. The photo was taken on my 8MP mobile phone camera, not the best tool, but I didn't think it appropriate to take my DSLR to a comedy gig.
