Amarisa B and B

Welcome to Amarisa Bed and Breakfast, a lovely spacious Sussex-tiled house, overlooking open fields to the front and a large naturalised wood to the rear. We offer rural B&B accommodation - the perfect place to stay for a holiday away from the busyness of town and city life. The accommodation looks out onto a field of horses. Just this side of the Cuckmere river, the Wealdway climbs a hill with sheep . The hills of the South Downs rise majestically in the distance to the south. For such an idyllic countryside location, we have great road access from the A22 to the north and the A27 to the south.

We are situated in the beautiful East Sussex countryside, just a short walk from Berwick station making it ideal for visitors who would prefer to have a break from using their car. Trains run regularly to Berwick from Eastbourne and London or Brighton via Lewes.

Amarisa B and B is only 1.5 miles from the South Downs National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, ideal for walking and cycling. The Vanguard Way, which runs from East Croydon to Newhaven, is very close to our B&B; the Wealdway passes just south of the railway line; and the South Downs Way is only 2 miles away, We are also on the route of the Avenue Verte, an off-road cycleway that starts in Paris, goes via Dieppe and the ferry to Newhaven, then on to London via the local Cuckoo Trail. The Cuckoo Trail is a disused railway line now used as a cycleway and path for easy walking from Heathfield to the outskirts of Eastbourne. Arlington Reservoir, a haven for birdwatchers, is a short walk away. The quintessentially English town of Lewes and the attractive seaside towns of Brighton, Seaford and Eastbourne are within a short drive as are the Bloomsbury properties of Charleston Farmhouse and Monk's House. A variety of delightful gardens and historic properties such as Michelham Priory, Batemans (the home of Rudyard Kipling), Sheffield Park, Sissinghurst Castle, and Great Dixter, to name but a few, are within easy reach. Glyndebourne Opera House and Herstmonceux Observatory and Castle are close by as are the Universities of Brighton and Sussex. Gatwick Airport is approximately 1 hour, Ashford International 1.5 hours and the port of Newhaven 20 minutes away from our B and B, making it ideal for our overseas visitors.

If you are visiting the East Sussex area between Lewes and Eastbourne, we are within easy reach of the surrounding villages and towns of Alfriston, Arlington, Firle, Hailsham, Hellingly, Laughton, Lower Dicker, Polegate, Selmeston, Upper Dicker (the home of Bede's Senior School), and Wick Street.
