Cyclones Hit Amala and Cuddalore this week

posted 19 Nov 2015, 10:05 by Mark Ashcroft

Whilst not as bad as Cyclone Thane in 2011, Amala and the Cuddalore region has been hit by high winds and flooding.  Many trees have come down and fences blown over, even the front wall in the home has collapsed in places.  Everyone is safe in Amala but there is lots of damage all around.  Please if you are able to help us do the repairs every penny sent in will be gratefully received.  More details will be in the newsletter coming out very soon.  Pictures are available on our facebook page together with some here.  Some of the photos are of Amala and some of the surrounding area in Cuddalore.

Bills, bills, bills

posted 4 May 2015, 01:25 by Mark Ashcroft

Bills, bills, bills! Help, we are struggling for funds. Local government regulations have meant we are having to build a new toilet block for the girls and put in a purified water system for the school. This has left us with almost no funds left to pay for sanitation and building repairs or for funding senior students in their college studies. We are writing to sponsors of the senior students but not all of these children are sponsored. Can you help? - please use the just giving button on this page to help us meet the running costs of the home. Any donation no matter how small will help. Many, many thanks.

Help to pay the bills

posted 12 Jan 2015, 23:25 by Mark Ashcroft

Shortly after Christmas our pick-up truck which was collecting groceries in the home was involved in a traffic accident.  One of our staff in the home and one of the students who had gone to help with the groceries were both seriously injured in the crash.  The Trust have paid for medical care for both the driver and the 14 year old boy and doctors expect them to both make a full recovery.  However the enormous cost of medical expenses has meant that we are again struggling to fund day to day costs.  If you are able to help us meet the running costs of the home then please click on the make a donation button via JustGiving on this page.  Any amount no matter how small will help us to get through this difficult time. Thank you.
