On Tuesday club car nights (see calendar) all cars are provided.
The Alton and Winchester Slot Car Club’s meetings are held on a private track located in mid Hampshire. The track comprises four lanes of routed MDF, with copper taped slots, and is approximately 70 feet long. The current lap record on this fairly tight circuit is 7.9 seconds.
We run 1/32 scale cars from manufacturers like Scalextric, Pioneer, SCX, Ninco, Fly, Carrera, etc.
There is a small race fee per meeting, to cover the cost of maintaining club equipment, heating, lighting and purchasing more club cars.
Meetings will be held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each Month. Track opens at 7:00pm, first race at 7:30.
We alternate between running the Club's cars on Club Championship nights, and running drivers' own cars on Goodwood themed nights.
Scratch built and kit built cars are permitted on Goodwood nights.
There are six different groups, or classes, per meeting, and all competitors have four races (one on each lane) with each class, making 24 races each. Each race is of 10 laps duration.
Points are scored in each race, four for first, three for second, etc. Marshalling is simply a case of removing de-slotted cars from the track, "crash and burn" being the race format. In order to give them a chance to learn the track, first-time drivers will be re-slotted if they crash.
At the end of each meeting, the points are added up to decide the overall winner.
We are not a serious club and our main aim for each evening is to have fun!
