About Me

Hi All,

I am Ms. Lopez, and I am currently in my 6th year of teaching in the Sonoma Valley Unified School District. I was born and raised in the Bay Area and moved to Sonoma County for college. Before I go any further I know what you must be thinking, "You were born and raised in the Bay Area and you are a Dodgers fan?!?!?". Yes, it is true. Just as I was born and raised in the Bay Area, I was born and raised a Dodgers fan (along with an A's and Raiders fan). Now that we got that out of the way, let's continue. I first came to Sonoma County in 2007 when I began attending college at Sonoma State University. I chose SSU because I was offered a sports scholarship to play softball, and I heard that they had a great Kinesiology program. Before attending SSU, I attended Diablo Valley College, a Junior College in the Bay Area. While playing softball at DVC, I received awards including "All Nor-Cal" and "All-American". Softball was and still is a passion of mine. I grew up around sports, and they have always been a part of my life. So naturally, becoming a Physical Education teacher was an easy choice for me to make. Another major passion of mine is cooking. I love to cook for my friends, family, (and occasionally my dog Levi). Whether it is in the kitchen or at the barbecue, I consider it to be my "happy place".

I love connecting with my students and getting to know each and every one of them. It means the world to me to be able to gain the respect of my students and show them the same respect in return. In my class, my students can expect to have fun, laugh, and learn all at the same time. My hope is that my students can find a passion for lifelong fitness. The only things I ask for are that students work hard and improve EVERY class period. If students can do that, it will make for a very happy teacher (not only in my class, but every other). I look forward to having a great year along with growing and learning together. Bring it on 2016-2017!!
